The job
Four new vent stacks for a steam boiler house.
New vent and discharge stacks for the steam boilers at a factory in Derby.
We took out the old vent pipework and replaced it like for like. There are four systems: a 5 inch stack for each of the two small boilers, a 6 inch stack for the large boiler and a 6 inch stack outside. The pipework is carbon steel, flanged and fully welded, with a weatherproof coating.
Each boiler stack is supported so the bottom section can come off for maintenance, and finishes in a bird beak terminal with mesh. The outside stack has a weather hood that drains back into the pipe below it. On the final visit on 21 April 2026 we fitted closure and trim plates where the pipes pass through the wall, then fitted and sealed three new storm collars on the roof.
